Centralized criminal records covering Zambia are maintained at Police Headquarters, Criminal Investigation Department, P.O. Box Ridgeway l04, Lusaka, Zambia. The Zambian Police issue certificates for any resident or former resident of Zambia which states whether or not a criminal record exists. If a record exists, it will give the particulars of the offense. The Republic of Zambia Police requires a complete set of fingerprints in order to issue the clearance certificate. The applicant should be fingerprinted by the police officer in the country of residence. The fingerprint form must be signed by the police officer and must bear the stamp of the local police. The applicant or the local police should then send the fingerprints to the Criminal Investigation Department with a written request that the police certificate be issued.
