Available from various. An official document is obtainable from the Center of Justice Statistics and Information under the General Prosecutor's Office (CJSI). Kazakhstani citizens, residents (or their confidential agents) can request this document by applying directly to the Center of Justice Statistics at the following address: Jeltoksan Street 189, Almaty, 480099, Kazakhstan At the time of application they need to present identification or a residence card. Prior Kazakhstani residents, who now live in countries different from the Republic of Kazakhstan, should apply at Kazakhstani diplomatic missions abroad. Third parties (embassies, consulates, etc.) can apply by diplomatic note only. The issued certificate shows: 1) If a criminal record exists (and the articles of law involved); 2) If a person has been reported missing and/or wanted; 3) If a person is under investigation. Negative information is searched by: last name (or any name previously used), first name, DOB and POB. According to the Kazakhstani Criminal Code, criminal conviction can be sealed upon the completion of a sentence, nevertheless, the certificate will reflect the criminal record history. The certificate can be stamped with 3 types of stamps. In most cases, when an individual has a "clean" record, the certificate is marked with "no record found" ("svedeniy net"), date and name stamps; special attention must be paid to a square-framed "information checked by #2" ("anyktama bergen #2) stamp which hits at a sealed criminal record in the past. Some records go back as far as 55 years. Records available in Russian language only. Fee: 600 KZT (USD 4). Paper archive records were computerized, therefore processing time is reportedly a maximum of 5 business days. Alternative?
